The Westport Town & Environs Development Plan 2010-2016 was adopted by Westport Town Council and Mayo County Council on Thursday 28th January 2010 and came into effect four weeks after that date. The plan provides a framework upon which future development within the plan area can be assessed. The plan consists of:

The plan includes an Architectural Conservation Area. A number of structures have also been added to the Record of Protected Structures for Westport Town. Lists of Protected Structures for the plan area, along with a description of the Architectural Conservation Area, are set out in Appendix 1 of the plan.
